Start: Partnership for Influenza Vaccine Introduction (PIVI)

Partner Profile:

Have you ever gotten a flu vaccine? For those with access to quality healthcare, we often take for granted the ease to which we can receive a flu vaccine. Yet, many people across the globe do not have this same luxury. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 36,000 people die from the flu annually. Yet, despite these numbers, the prevalence of flu related deaths is not as widely publicized as other diseases.

A department of The Task Force for Global Health’s Immunizations and Vaccines Sector, PIVI’s mission is to streamline influenza vaccination programs in some of the world’s most vulnerable areas. PIVI takes surplus flu vaccinations and develops global distribution strategies that bring flu vaccines to those who need them most. PIVI collaborates with the Ministries of Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Task Force for Global Health, the private sector, and NGO partners to make this possible.
